One of three in a series of images of the glacial ice on the black sand beach at Jökulsárlón Lagoon. Diamond Beach is located near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southern Iceland.  Large pieces of ice that look like diamonds break off from Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier in the lagoon, wash into the Atlantic Ocean, then onto the black sand beach.

This piece of ice is small; the water had recessed from the beach, leaving a contrast between the black sand and the diamond ice.  The series of three vertical photographs of which Crystal is a part capture the interaction of the ice, the black sand, and the Atlantic Ocean’s waves.
